One of the Blue Elephant’s neighbors around the corner on Commom Street is Club Z, an in-home tutoring service owned and operated by Carol Huppe. The boys from the Blue Elephant have spent a lot of time working with Maggie Daigle this year, from Ferry Beach Ecology School. FBES is a non-profit organization the exists to teach children and adults the science of ecology and the practice of sustainability. Maggie and the Ferry Beach Ecology School will be participating in Saco Spirit’s annual Pumpkinfest again this year, with their popular progam on “Nature Island”. Don’t miss! Blue Elephant would like to join the Biddeford/Saco Chamber of Commerce in bidding farewell to Bernard Featherman, who announced his retirement this week from his position of President of the Biddeford/Saco Chamber of Commerce. Bernard was welcoming to us when we opened in 2007, and we wish he and wife Sandra the best in this next phase of their lives.

Our friend Jane Glennan, former Excutive Director of Saco Spirit has certainly been busy since leaving Saco Spirit in October 2007! Janey Mullaney’s carries a wide selection of women’s clothing and accessories, and gifts. Jane has also been busy in her spare time helping animals. Here she is with her dog, Riley, who she adopted as a puppy. In addition to providing a loving home, Jane has taught Riley to sing. So far, its only one song, but they have been practicing others. “Its a gift”, says Jane, when pressed for her secret to the singing pooch, “…plus there is a lot of raw talent there to work with. Blue Elephant participated for the second time in the Biddeford Saco Chamber of Commerce Business to Business Expo, held Sportzone in Saco on September 24th, 2008. It was great to meet and mingle with other professionals and visitors from the area and see what everyone else is up to. Here are a couple of photos of our booth.
