Blue Elephant was pleased to welcome some local Red Hats to Thacher Goodale House this week! 13 ladies enjoyed good food and company and a brief tour of the house, and here are the pictures to prove it. Ladies: we look forward to seeing all of you soon at the cafe!
After 25 years of plotting and planing, Fausto finally got to see his longtime favorite singer, Bonnie Tyler. Reuben and Travelwise’s Beth Rogers recently accompanied him to the Mohegan Sun Casino where Ms. Tyler performed and then agreed to meet privately with the trio after the concert. Bonnie was in fine form, and the three had a great time. Bonnie, if you are ever in Saco, lunch is on us!
The Noyes Brain Tumor Foundation Gala, held on September 10 at the Holiday Inn by the Bay was a great success! More than 200 people attended and a good time was had by all. 20 restaurants, including Blue Elephant Cafe, donated food for the event. Entertainment included live and silent auctions, a performance by the St. Jude’s Performance Team, and music by Calypso Band. We are looking forward to the next gala in 2009! Our best wishes and congratulations go to Bill and Nancy Noyes for this successful fund raising event in memory of their son Matt.
Fausto was thrilled to appear on 207 this week to talk about Blue Elephant’s involvement with the Noyes Brain Tumor Foundation and its annual gala “Cooking For A Cure”. The event takes place on Wednesday, September 10, from 6-10 PM, and proceeds benefit the brain tumor research program at St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. For more information on the event, the NBTF, and to bid in the silent auction online, visit www.thenoyesbraintumorfoundation.com.

And remember, folks: if it’s got salami on it, it ain’t a Cuban.
The boys from the Blue Elephant went to see Suzanne Vega at the end of August. We noticed that the t-shirts at the merchandise table were Vega’s own spin on the “I heart New York” theme, and read “I heart S V”. It occurred to us that Suzanne’s initials were the same as our daughter’s, and had Suzanne sign one of them for her. It is hanging up at the cafe - come check it out!
It was a great show - Suzanne’s latest album is called Beauty and Crime, and Reuben highly recommends it. Visit her on the web at www.suzannevega.com and buy a copy…

The Blue Elephant will be featured on the show “207″ next week! Here are a couple of photos from the rehearsal. We’ll post the link next week when the show airs. Don’t miss us on Tuesday, 9/9/08 at 7pm on channel 6.
